Honoring the legacy of those who came before us.
African American students are invited to participate in a
special creative project for a chance to win CA$H prize$
Based on interviewing an elder member of their family,
from their place of worship, or in their community;
learning about the elders' experiences that represent
resilience, courage and hope for the future.
Creating and submitting one of the following:

An audio recording
A video
A written essay
A poem
An original work of art
Demonstrating the lessons learned through their interview with this elder.
This contest is more than a project, it is a movement!

Black America 250 student contest empowers young people to honor history,
amplify truth, and envision a more inclusive America, ensuring that their generation,
and those who come after them, helps shape the narrative for the next 250 years.

PURPOSE:

  • Promote a deeper understanding of Black American history,
    and its role in the founding and evolution of the United States.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and civic engagement among students.
  • Elevate youth voices in shaping the narrative of America’s past, present, and future.
  • Foster pride, awareness and intergenerational dialogue.
